But, what you have not visualized is deep diving in Mauritius and swimming in the turquoise blue waters of the sea and mingling with all types of marine life and being one with nature. Many of the diving experts and seasoned divers would tell you that a dive in the seas of Mauritius is a must to enjoy the full essence of diving. The island is surrounded by a coral reef all around. Mauritius has diverse marine life which allows you to come face to face with barracuda, eagle rays, sharks and turtles.
Scuba diving is a very enjoyable sport and many people enjoy diving in Mauritius because of its beautiful waters and the colorful reefs which are found in and around Mauritius. Attractive sites for diving in Mauritius are found all around the island, but the diving conditions do vary from site to site, and from place to place. In Mauritius, the waters on the east coast are much colder than the waters on the west coast.

The Mauritius Scuba Diving Association monitors the island’s dive centers to ensure that all the centers are run by qualified and experienced dive masters. It is mandatory for the dive masters to be trained to international standards and specifications. The regulations require that trainee or visitor divers must be accompanied by an instructor and escorted by a boat. The center must be managed by international diving instructors who are capable of imparting lessons from the beginner to the expert stage. Further, the center must be able to organize snorkeling expeditions.
In Mauritius, the east coast offers some of the best dive sites on the island. The islands to the north of Mauritius offer very attractive and amazing diving sites, but these are not appealing to the diving clubs on account of their far locations.
The North coast offers attractive experience of diving in Mauritius such as Whale Rock and Flat Island which are famous for stone corrals, sharks and other species of fish. The East coast offers sites for diving in Mauritius such as Roche Zozo and Colorado where you will find barracuda, sharks, rays, kingfish hiding in the innumerable caves, tunnels and canyons. The attractions of the West coast is a cave known as ‘Cathedrale’ and Rempart Serpent where you will be able to see a number of morays, lionfish and stone fishes. You could also do some diving near Tamarin Bay and you could be lucky enough to see some dolphins.
The sea temperature is quite pleasant throughout the year which ranges from 28 C in summer to 23 C in winter. Heavy anticyclones may cause the sea temperatures to dip by 2-3 degrees in January-February and July-August.
