Mauritius Tourist Attractions

The Republic of Mauritius, more commonly referred as just Mauritius, is an island nation in the southwestern Indian Ocean. Besides the island of Mauritius, the Republic of Mauritius also includes the islands of Agalega, Rodrigues and St. Brandon. This island nation has a very pleasant tropical climate and is well known for its numerous tourist attractions. The developed economy, high standard of living, modern lifestyle, exotic beaches and so forth have often caught the eye of tourists from around the world.

One of the more prominent attractions is Port Louis, the capital city and chief port of Mauritius. Port Louis was constructed in 1735 by the French. This harbor is located between mountains, which makes it worth visiting for the glorious view alone. Along the town square, there are several French period styled buildings, which enhance the charm of this quaint attraction.

There is also the Pamplemonsses Garden, which was built in 1767. This beautiful garden was built by Pierre Poivre. The native flora and fauna exhibited in this garden date back several decades.

Also worth a mention is the Black River George. This national park covers an enormous area. It was constructed in order to protect the natural vegetation of the island. One can walk amongst the greenery and reach the highest point of the island, Black River Peak.

Mauritius BeachLast but least amongst the featured attractions of Mauritius is Ile Anx Cerfs. The beaches and lagoons of this area are some of the most famous and talked about by past and present visitors to the island. Apart from sunbathing and water sports, restaurants and souvenir stores attract large crowds of peoples, all looking to enjoy themselves and have a good time.

If you are looking to party into the wee hours of the morning, then the Grand Bay area on the northern side of the island is the place for you. This is where even the locals go for a night of food, fun, and dancing the night away. For the more sedate visitor, the Labourdonnais Orchards offer a display of tropical fruit trees, colorful and delightfully perfumed exotic flowers. If you are up for a little exercise, trips via mountain biking or hiking are available many trails weaving in and out of the exotic vegetation.

For the family looking to spend some quality time together, The Waterpark Leisure Village on the Eastern side of Mauritius is easily the best choice. Enjoy some of the most unforgettable moments of your vacation while sliding down the giant water slides with family and friends. Relaxation and pleasure are guaranteed.

There are so many more attractions ready and waiting to be enjoyed throughout the islands of the Republic.
