You can be assured that the chance of a big hurricane hitting the island is remote. Hurricanes arise off the coast of Africa and head towards the Caribbean Sea. Because of its location, Barbados hasn’t suffered a direct hit since 1955. The people of Barbados are well adapted to dealing with hurricanes as they have become well acquainted with hurricanes and are quite aware of their impact. Moreover, many of the places in Barbados are situated on elevated places.
