Bahrain Weather
Bahrain, which is also known as the ‘Peal of the Arabic Gulf’, is a beautiful island country, which is located in the mid southern part of the Arabic Gulf. Bahrain is famous for its sandy plains and shallow seas. The dust bowls and the sand basins (lying towards the northwest), the shallow Gulf waters and the Zagros mountain ranges (lying towards its northeast), have a considerable amount of impact on the Bahrain weather and its climatic regimes.
Bahrain weather is persistently hot and humid during summers, with the average temperature being 36 degrees centigrade for the period between July and September. The skies usually remain cloudless during the summer months and the mercury soars highest (46 to 48 degrees centigrade) during the month of May. Hence, if you are planning to visit Bahrain during the summers, you must equip yourself with proper light, cotton summer wear to suit the Bahrain weather. Irrespective of which adventurous activity you want to participate in – camel race, formula one race, or in any other desert race carnivals, you should be appropriately dressed, with comfortable and loose clothing to be able to enjoy the experience.
During the month of June and July, strong winds known as “Shamal” engulf the island country and greatly aid in controlling the soaring temperature levels. The Zagros mountain ranges are mainly responsible for directing the winds in the north-west direction and providing temporary respite to the Bahrainians from the hot Bahrain weather. This is the most common period for thick dust haze, which reduce the visibility. Bahrainians usually use a long veil to mask their face and protect their eyes from the fine sand and dust that blows in the desert island during this period of the year.
Tourists from cold countries love the desert experience and therefore, the summer period is a period of great tourist inflow into the island country. Especially, people who are interested in adventurous activities such as pearl diving, find diving into the cool seawater to be an unforgettable experience.
However, the winters are much milder. Therefore, tourists who cannot stand hot weather can consider visiting this place during the winter season, when the Bahrain weather is very pleasant. During winters, the maximum temperature does not rise above 20 degree centigrade while the minimum temperature does not drop below 10 degree centigrade. The period between December and March is considered as the coldest period in this region of the world.
The Bahrain weather gets very erratic and chilly during the winter months because of the unpredictable rainfall. Therefore, if you are considering visiting Bahrain during winters, it is better to carry warm clothing such as shawls and woolen wears to suit the Bahrain weather. It is also recommended that you carry your raincoat and umbrellas whenever you go out.
The Bahrain weather also has a characteristic transitional phase of spring (March-end to mid-April) and autumn (October to November) months, when the weather is really pleasant and appealing. It is neither hot, stuffy and humid, nor is it cold or wet outside. This is the perfect season to visit Bahrain.
Bahrain has a characteristic blend of both the urban and the rural flavors. The desert landscape, strewn with sand basins and the shallow seas is bound to appeal to the senses of almost anyone.
