Horse Racing has become one of the very popular events in Dubai. It is said that horse racing has been part of the country’s culture and heritage. Just as camels are associated with this region, so are the horse races. One of the most important components of Dubai horse racing is the electrifying and exciting Dubai World Cup. Dubai horse racing is one of the best racing capitals in the world. You will find here the best horses, the best jockeys, and the best trainers. Do you know that Dubai horse racing is the richest race in the world? The Dubai World Cup was started in 1996 and it earned six million dollars in the inaugural year itself.

Dubai Horse RacingThere are two race courses in Dubai: the Nad al Sheba Racecourse and the Jebel Ali Racecourse. The Nad al Sheba has a dirt track that has three chutes. The 2000 metre chute is the biggest and most well-equipped one, which is fitted with the latest equipment to protect it from any possible damage cause by strong winds and showers. This well maintained tract is particularly used only for the Dubai World Cup. The Turf track is 2200 meters long and is covered with United States grass. Rye is planted in winters to add color to the turf. Three races are held here every year from November to March, namely the Winter Racing Challenge, the Dubai International Racing Carnival, and the Dubai World Cup.

Good seating arrangements are made available around the Dubai horse racing tracks for the public and the seating areas are provided with about 100 monitors to enable a better view for everyone. There is adequate parking for visitors with a designated car park for coaches.

If you are out there to watch the horses in action, it does not mean that you have to go hungry. Visit the International Village for food and entertainment. Entry to the Village is through tickets and it is open from 2.00 pm onwards. You will find a live band in attendance till midnight.

Another popular Dubai horse racing venue is the Dubai International Racing Carnival which showcases the world’s best horses and jockeys.
