The Dead Sea

The Dead Sea is one of the most saline lakes in the world. It is located deep in the Jordan Valley about 55 kms southeast of Amman. It is one of the most spectacular natural landscapes in the whole world. It is the lowest body of water on the face of the earth and the lowest point on earth. The Dead Sea is flanked by mountains to the east and the hills of Jerusalem to the west. The Jordan River is the only water source flowing into The Dead Sea and there are no outlets.

The Dead Sea has been attracting visitors for thousands of years. The Bible tells us that The Dead Sea was a place of refuge for King David. It is one of the world’s oldest health resorts and it has been instrumental in supplying medicines, chemicals, and balms for a variety of reasons.
