It is a sand bar covered by the beautiful turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf. The island is covered by beaches of soft sand and is a favorite place to escape the crowds of the city. This island was at one time just a barren sandbar, and the waters of the sea keep changing colors from blue to green to turquoise depending on the time of the day. The Palm Tree Island is managed by the Doha Club and they sponsor swimming events, fun and games, biathlon, and other week end events.

The restaurant has a budget priced ‘daily special’ three-course meal as well as a ‘Family International Buffet’ at weekends. The air-conditioned ‘Bayview Café’ offers light snacks, sandwiches, and burgers for you and your kids. The ‘Al Noukhata Seaview’ offers the traditional Arabic shisha and it is a popular meeting place. Here you have the choice of eating in the restaurant or on the terrace.

A trip to The Palm Tree Island will cost an adult QR 20 and a child QR 10 and QR 35 will get you a full meal from the Chef’s special menu. But, you will have to pay extra for the camel rides and other amusements. The island is open from 9.00 am to 10.00 pm Saturdays to Tuesdays, and from 9.00 am to 11.00 pm Wednesdays to Fridays. The dhow service runs at ten-minute intervals and the last trip is at closing time. During the month of Ramadan, the island will be open from 9.00 am to 1.00 am, but the restaurant will be closed during daylight hours. There will be a special Ramadan ‘Iftar’ Buffet each evening. During the Eid holiday The Palm Tree Island hosts a special entertainment program for children from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm, and Arabic music program from 7.00 pm to 10.00 pm.
