Al Ruwais
Al Ruwais is a small town that is located about 110 kms from Doha on the northern tip of the peninsula of Qatar. It is also known as Ruwais and has a population of 16,000 residents, which is expected to go up to 20,000 by 2010. The town is a very popular tourist destination and attracts a number of tourists.
The township is managed by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. This company services the Ruwais Industrial Complex which is a collection of petrochemical installations. Al Ruwais has been the home of the traditional Bedouin tribes for hundreds of years. These tribes used to follow their traditional lifestyle and earn their livelihood. But, the changing economic style has forced them to change their lifestyle.
There are a number of industries in Al Ruwais such as the Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company, the Ruwais Refinery, power station, desalination plant, the Borouge Polyethylene Plant, the Abu Dhabi Gas Industries, and the Ruwais Fertilizer Industries.
Al Ruwais is an ideal getaway if you want to escape from the crowds and the monotony of city life. You can spend a week end with your family or friends. You will also find other facilities and amenities necessary for your daily life, but you will not find any of the grand malls like those you find in Doha.
